Their first V/A compilation since 2014, today [25th March 2022], left-field pop and exploratory electronic platform TT Label share the genre-defying 7 track record, Performance Enhancers, featuring bambinodj, Jetty, DJ Rish and PELLE ROCK. Although they cannot guarantee improvement in any of your day-to-day general performance, what you can expect is a thorough yet nostalgic cross-sectional exploration into a variety of genres. bambino dj kicks things off with the two most club orientated tracks of the compilation, ‘Lost Riddim’ and ‘august FDM’. Various elements of dance hall sounds sit subtly in ‘Lost Riddim’, allowing for the echoing synth pads to take the fore and navigate the sound into a more spaced-out territory. A similar take on an FDM type beat is heard on ‘august FDM’ - with laser-like blips or animated vocals meeting eerie harmonic elements. Jetty’s deep-sea exploration dive further into the dembow beat. ‘On the Jetty’ elicits imagery of a calm sea. The glitchy beat perfectly complemented by a warming bassline, driving the forward harmonically and rhythmically, allowing room for the pitched-up vox to come and go with ease. Tighter drums in ‘Rudder’ highlight the syncopated beat.

Comfortably alongside them sit DJ RISH’s two introspective contributions, oozing in nostalgic elements. Vinyl crackling effects in ‘Best’ and hollowed out chugging sounds, reminiscent of high-speed trains in ‘R4U’, elicit feelings from deep within. A cinematic soundscape is carefully crafted in ‘Best', characterised by soft breaks which provide the rhythmic foundation for the track, effortlessly melding with its smooth bassline and melancholic vocal samples. The comfortingly similar vocals heard on ‘R4U’ take on an entirely different feel, with tightly programmed hi-hats which layered upon a gliding 808 bassline.

Enter PELLE ROCK with a couple of curveballs. Trance-like cinematic chord progressions drive the colossal build-up in ‘AIRPOD ROCK’, grandiose harmonic elements work in tandem with their rhythmic counterparts here. Rounding out the record, 'ULTA BEAUTY 97', is brimming with nostalgia, all metallic grunge and teenage angst. Dense layers, with building intensity, it's a cathartic listening experience.
